Drinking tea can reduce risk of skin cancer

Postby Lena » 21 Apr 2007 04:31

Drinking just two cups of tea per day could cut the risk of developing skin cancer, a study suggests.
The US research compared the tea-drinking habits of 1,400 people with skin cancer and 700 who had not developed the disease.

The study asked the people with cancer, plus the healthy group - all aged between 25 and 74 - about diet, lifestyle and their consumption of both green and black teas.

Both kinds of tea are rich in antioxidants which animal studies have been shown prevent the development of cancer cells.

This research found that people who drank tea regularly had a lower risk of either cancer.

Adding lemon peel to the tea, seemed to increase the benefits of the drink, the researchers said.

It is not necessary to drink so many cups of tea and at most four cup should be consumed per day.

Tea contains antioxidants. Like the Rust-Oleum paint that keeps your outdoor furniture from rusting, tea's antioxidants protect your body from the ravages of aging and the effects of pollution.

Yeah, I agree. Tea really provides skin antioxidants that make skin glow and look healthy. Chinese have younger looking skin because they drink a lot of tea. Tea is already part of their meal. For me it's enough evidence that tea can reduce the risk of skin cancer.

Many researches have proved that tea can reduce risk of skin cancer because of the antioxidants it contain. But what about the disadvantages of tea?

Tea had become one of the most popular herbal drink consumed throughout the world. It is considered popular because of its nutritional and medicinal value. But too much tea consumption may lead to kidney damage, it can irritate the stomach, and because it overexcites the nervous system, palpitations also may occur.

Just like with most things, too much can be bad. Be aware. Choose the tea with the right quality.

That is right drinking some tea can reduce the risk of some common skin cancer and can prevent illness like arthritis and cancer, rheumatoid arthritis, high cholesterol levels, cardiovascular disease, infection. Some Chinese says drinking of tea is "The Natural Secret for a Healthier Life ". Today, scientific research in both Asia and the west is providing hard evidence for the health benefits long associated with drinking green tea.

I would like to see the numbers of people with cancer in say America compared to a place that drinks a lot tea like China or Japan. While I believe tea contributes to preventing cancer, I also believe it's the diet that people are on. In Japan, I would assume more people eat seafood and seaweed than in America. I know that seaweed and seafood is good for your health. Also, in America, we eat a lot of snacks and foods that contain lots of preservatives and chemicals to keep the foods fresh. I wouldn't be surprised to find that these preservatives are bad for your health and could increase the risk of cancers. Overall, I think the bet thing to do is eat a healthy diet, exercise, drink plenty of water and tea and have an annual checkup with your doctor.
