Food recommendations?

Postby southboca » 14 Mar 2007 03:13

What do you feed your dogs? We've been overseas for about three years now, so our dogs have been eating "native" brand food. Science Diet was way too expensive -- about $20 for two pounds. Yikes! I haven't seen much difference in our dogs. Has anyone else?

I feed my dog Wellness brand Super 5 Chicken Mix dry and wet food (in a 60% dry, 40% wet combo) and he LOVES it.

I feel like he's getting balanced, high quality food and he's a happy, healthy and shiny eyed little guy, so something is working well.

You know, I think the best food for your dog is food you cook yourself. Cooking doesn't take much time, and your dog will be happy. Once I was searching for this issue on the internet and came across the website Best dog food - homemade dog food. There are also a simple recipes dog food.

Our pets need quality pet food. Read the ingredients list and learn what the stuff on there is and what it does (or does not do) to/for our pets. A quick pet food 101. If the pet food contains corn/corn products or by products it is a poor quality food. Do not pay attention to advertising, they all say there food is great. Corn is a filler that can trigger skin problems. (allergies, skin problems, itching and excessive shedding) By products is anything from an animal not fit for human consumption, including cancerous tissue. Quality foods have meat as the first ingredient. California Natural, Solid Gold, Innova and Merrick are a few of the best brands available.
