My dog is squirrel crazy. When I go to visit my parents in the burbs she is in puppy heaven. My parents have a caged pool and the squirrels like to run across the top. She stands on her hind legs to watch. Wouldn't you know it? Once or twice a day she end up splashing into the pool. And then looking very surprised that it happened again.

My dog also loved to chase squirrels. Sometimes she would just lay in the grass in the yard, watching them as they scurried among the branches in the trees. If they got too close to the ground, my dog would pounce on them, barking like crazy.

I don't think she ever actually caught one though.

I think it might be the habbits of all dogs as often I see my dog is also start jumping and barking on squirrel but never tried to kill any squirrel.
