Translation: Pray to God and hit with a mallot.

When I first heard it, I thought it sounded like a good proverb for would-be murderers or newly trained carpenters.

The real interpretation: Don't just pray, work. A.K.A. God helps those who help themselves.

I like this one, because one of my friends who is very secretive always says it:

Eres dueño de lo que callas y esclavo de lo que cuentas.

You are the owner of what you keep quiet, and a slave to what you tell others.
