This week I am working on stem changing verbs. (The "e" changes to "i"). The verb reír is giving me problems. (My book only gives two examples and neither has an accent mark.) The simple 1st person present tense is rio....but where does the accent go on the "i" or the "o"? I really don't want to learn it wrong. Logically it seems like it should fall on the "i", but wouldn't that make "I laugh" the same as "river"?

The accent can go on either the i or the o depending on the tense. For present tense: yo río tú ríes
él ríe
nosotros reímos
vosotros reís
ellos ríen
For simple past tense: yo reí tú reíste
él rió nosotros reímos
vosotros reísteis
ellos rieron
Hopefully this helps!
