Many viruses have been contagious because of lack of clean hands. Since I work at home and most of the time I am by myself, I admit I only wash my hands before and after eating...When I was working in an office, I used to wash my hands almost constantly, specially since I had to deal with so many people. Was I just paranoid? What's your experience?

I also have a certain level of germ phobia. I find myself washing my hands frequently even at home. At the office, I always keep a bottle of hand sanitizer at my desk. I figure, anything I can do to try to prevent sickness is worth the effort!

I recently read you can wash your hands too much - because when you wash your hands you are getting rid of good and bad things - so I say after using the bathroom or riding the subway!

It is a very good idea to have a hand sanitizer handy, because that helps in cases where you are surrounded by people that may not have the same clean habits that you have. I keep one on my backpack at all times.

It's a difficult balance, if you wash your hands too much you can end up with dermatitus. I wash my hands if I've been to the bathroom, changed the cat litter, handling raw food, touched animals, or anything else especially 'grubby'.

also was reading my daughter a book which said you should sing happy birthday TWICE while washing your hands - try it- that is such a long time to wash!

I also wash my hands several times a day especially whanever I use to handle some material or my pet's food with my hand.
