A good company to get hosting off is FUSEHOSTING.co.uk  
    They are still a small company but their prices are really good.  Customer support is also excellent.

Thanks for that, have you tried many others? I'm looking for hosting sometime down the line but I don't know what comparisons to use.

IMHO, Linux is better.  You have Apache for your webserver and it runs the majority of the web servers on the internet (last time I checked anyway).  One of the main reasons is dependability.  Don't get me wrong Windows based machines are as good as they've ever been, but you can set and forget a Linux box once configured.   In all, I'd take a Linux webserver over Windows any day.
