This is really disturbing news. A recent study, "Homeland Insecurity," found a link between state tax rates and children's health.

States (both poor and rich) had healthier children when the tax rate was high. (Health was measured in terms of low birth weight, neonatal mortality, juvenile incarceration, teen pregnancy, and death.)

 Key findings included:
Nine of the top 10 higher tax states rank in the top 20 for overall child well-being.
Seven of the 10 lowest tax states rank in the bottom 20 states for overall child well being, with four in the bottom 10 states.

I live in Florida. We have no state tax.

I think the kids should be taken care the most, because let's face it, not only are they the future of the country, but the workin g force that will allow us to retire!

That's interesting: is it suggesting that when tax rates are high the general economy is good and the children have better health care generally?

I think a state having more income will pay more and obviously will look after in a better way during pregnancy or after birth and that's why the child have a good health on all parameters.
