I heard that some hairdressers are passing out more than just free samples these days. They are working to teach their customers to recognize stroke warning signs by handing out wallet cards. It all started back in 1995 as a part of a pilot program where doctors trained the beauticians. Since then, at least two patients credit their hair stylists with receiving early treatment for their strokes. Does anyone else know of unusual partners in preventing strokes?

If you believe someone is having a stroke – if he or she suddenly loses the ability to speak, or move an arm or leg on one side, or experiences facial paralysis on one side – call 911 immediately. I know that a stroke can be less damaging is treated on time. You have to take it as a medical emergency where every minute counts.
