My roommate has a very disfunctional family; they are all overweight. She is living here with her brother and her mom visits on weekends. She is going on a diet. (Tuna, veggies and a whole grain for as many days in a row that she can stand.) Her mom and brother seem to be doing everything they can do sabotage her efforts. They bought a Sam's warehouse size box of chocolate donuts, and they keep asking her to cook them deep fried food that she can't eat and then offering her tastes. What a screwed up family. It makes me start to appreciate my own a little more. Our only rule was eat three bites of everything on your plate to be excused from the table and no dessert if you don't finish all your food.

that seems like a reasonable plan - but I agree that how we are raised has a big impact on our relationship with food.

seems like she isn't getting it from her family so someone else needs to help her.. that really is sad.

Excess weight gain can be a disorder and I think proper checkup might help in reducing weight.
