My favorite verb this week is esperar -- it translates as either to wait or to hope. That connotation seems so very optimistic.

It's kind of like this: "ehs-peh-rar", where the first part is pronounced just like you're saying the letter 'S'. The r's sound similar to d's. (The Spanish r is formed by hitting the tongue against the front of the palate.) Hopefully this helps!
